The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera in the town of Thiruporur in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu and shared on Facebook where it has been seen 50,000 times.
In the footage, a man on a motorbike is seen riding alongside a lorry, reportedly a water tanker.
In that moment, a cyclist joins the traffic and appears to ram into the biker, sending him crashing off his bike and under the tanker’s wheels.
The biker appears to have his upper body crushed under the huge vehicle’s wheels and lies motionless on the road after the incident.
Meanwhile, the cyclist seems more concerned with his bike than the motionless man and he is last seen checking his two-wheeler.
According to local media, a 35-year-old man named Prabhu was killed and a case of death by negligence and dangerous driving has been opened against the water tanker driver who fled the scene.
Reports said that other road users alerted the tanker driver to the incident, but he fled the scene and is currently missing.
Eyewitnesses contacted the emergency services and Prabu’s body was taken to a nearby hospital morgue to undergo an autopsy, according to local media.
The local police have confirmed that they are investigating the incident.
