The incident was filmed on the banks of the Krishna River in the district of Raichur in the southern Indian state of Karnataka and posted on social media.

According to reports, the buffalo survived the crocodile attack, but lost a leg in the process.

In the footage, the buffalo is seen in the water as a crocodile appears to approach it and a man on the riverbank shouts out to the animal.

The buffalo then hobbles onto the rocks and up the riverbank towards its owner and herd.

The poor animal is seen struggling to walk after clearly losing a front leg.

It then joins its herd and the other buffaloes approach the injured animal.

According to reports, the buffalo was grazing on the riverbank with its owner, identified as farmer Sheenappa.

As it was a hot day, the buffalo entered the water to cool off but was attacked by the croc.

It escaped the predator’s jaws, but the poor animal returned to Sheenappa with a limb missing.

According to local media, villagers are now too scared to go near the river and have demanded that the local authorities catch the crocodile.
