The startling incident occurred at a toll booth in the city of Kishangarh in the Indian state of Rajasthan and was recorded by CCTV cameras after the unnamed driver had driven into a low wall and the car’s front-right tyre became jammed.

In the video, a group of people can be seen lifting the car to free the tyre and when they drop the vehicle they motion for the driver to reverse.

However, he reverses at high speed and crashes into the boom barrier behind. Local media report he then panicked and put the car into first gear but mixed up the brake with the accelerator pedal and he can be seen driving into the group of do-gooders who had helped him fix the car as they try to sprint to safety.

Several men and left lying on the ground after the SUV hit them and local media report six men, one of whom was the driver, were hospitalised in the incident. There are no updates on their condition.
