This is the moment an endangered lion crosses a busy road as bikers zoom past before crossing into woodland without batting an eyelid as human road users watch in shock.

The startling footage was recorded by an onlooker on Bikhla Road close to the Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary in the city of Junagadh in the western Indian state of Gujarat, the only place in the world home to wild Asiatic lions (Panthera leo leo).
In the video, a lion can be seen coming from the trees on the left-hand side of the road and slowly walking across the tarmac as drivers and bikers come to a halt to let the big cat pass.
However, one scooter rider decides to take a risk and rides straight in front of the lion as the animal calmly walks around the two-wheeler and into the shrubbery by the side of the road.
The daring biker then comes to a halt and turns around to watch the lion walk away.
The Asiatic lion’s range is restricted to the Gir National Park and the surrounding area. The lion is listed as ‘Endangered’ on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List. A 2015 Asiatic Lion Census found the park’s lion population to be 523, up from a count of 411 in 2010.
