According to local media, alleged bootlegger Sitara Bhadbhuja beat the man at her home in Bapunagar in the city of Ahmedabad located in India’s westernmost state of Gujarat.
Reports said that she was arrested in August 2018 following a raid on her home, but she managed to escape from the police station the same day.
Bhadbhuja was subsequently arrested the following day, but reports did not mention whether she was convicted of anything.
However, she is said to be Facebook friends with 21 local cops and a police spokesman claimed that they are not aware of the video, according to reports.
In the footage, Bhadbhuja is seen beating a young man in the company of at least one male accomplice.
According to local media, she was shouting “take your hands down, I will teach you a lesson so that you never take away someone’s money” as she kicked and punched the victim.
With the local authorities remaining tight-lipped over the video and alleged links with Bhadbhuja, a neighbour of hers told reporters: “The incident took place at her home and the victim is a Dalit boy whose whereabouts are unknown.”
It is currently unclear whether the police will look into the incident.
