The incident happened during torrential rains in the Jalna district which is located in India’s Maharashtra state.

The bike had been parked on the pavement when huge pothole appeared which quickly filled with rainwater and then swallowed the bike.

The horrified owner of the vehicle, who had taken shelter in a nearby shop in order to escape the rain, then had the job of trying to haul it out held by other passers-by before it completely vanished.

Local media reported that the huge puddle had appeared near to the S.B. High School in the old Part of Jalna and Morningside had been put up to avoid people walking through the water.

It was not the only incident, in which the soil under the road had presumably been eroded by the rain, with a car and another bike also narrowly avoiding a similar huge pothole in another part of town.

The heavy rains have also caused extensive flooding of property in the region.
