This is the moment a 49-year-old mother is rescued from between the platform and train after she rushed off the carriage after falling asleep and almost missing her stop at 5am.

According to reports, rescue workers had to cut the metal pipe of the bio toilet in two places to free the woman’s trapped leg.
The incident took place at the Madurai Junction railway station in the city of Madurai located in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu after she had visited relatives in the city of Chennai in the same state.
According to local media, the 49-year-old woman, identified as Vijaya Poornima, was travelling with her two sons on the Ananthapuri Express when the train reached their station at 4.50am.
The family-of-three was sleeping when one of the boys realised they had arrived at their station and the train was about to set off again.
In a rush, Poornima and her sons tried to disembark the train and the two boys jumped down first.
However, Poornima lost her balance when the train suddenly moved and she fell into the narrow space between the platform and the carriage.

Her sons raised the alarm and railway officials and members of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) rushed to the scene.
The woman’s leg was reportedly trapped between the toilet’s metal pipe and rescue workers had to cut it in two places to free her.
Four trains were delayed by over one and a half hours due to the incident, according to local media.
Meanwhile, Poornima is reportedly receiving treatment at a private hospital in her home city of Madurai.
